Product description Design meets bass power: high-quality enclosure sub woofer by JBL© GTO 1214bp 12" (300mm) band-pass enclosure subwoofer Speaker specialist JBL gives once again a 100%, presenting the new enclosure sub woofer of the popular Grand Touring© (GTO) Series. Compared to its predecessors, this sub woofer has clearly been upgraded in terms of design, manufacturing quality as well as performance. The latter gains above all from the new Slipstream bass reflex ports exclusive to JBL. Dominating the front with their large openings, the shape of these ports is individually calculated for each particular enclosure, effectively suppressing annoying flow noise and ensuring perfect performance of the ports, even at highest sound levels. Despite intensive harmonization of ports and enclosures, the latter can be surprisingly compact. Band-pass enclosure GTO 1214 BP is the series' top model and certainly the right choice for all deep bass freaks. In the subtle white-lit interior is a high-performance 12" chassis with a solid aluminium cast basket. Generous ventilation and a strong double magnet make the GTO 1214 BP extremely tough. JBL only uses original JBL chassis for their enclosure sub woofers, ensuring perfect sound quality and high sound pressure as known from live concerts. The JBL GTO 1214 BP uses the new GTO 1214 chassis, which is also available separately. But a high-quality chassis alone doesn't make a good enclosure sub woofer. The high-quality enclosure made of torsion-resistant medium-density fiberboard with a contemporary varnished black front reduces resonances to a minimum and ensures precise bass reproduction, even at highest sound pressure levels. But one component is still missing. Often the bass reflex tunnel is neglected, which can harm the whole system considerably. Not so at JBL. The GTO 1214 BP is equipped with the new Slipstream port technology used in professional systems. The precisely calculated doubly slanted shape of the generously dimensioned tunnel eliminates turbulence noises efficiently. The air flow remains uniform, even at high sound pressure levels, and offers deeper bass reproduction and protection against mechanical cone overload.
